About

Hi! I'm Ioanna.

I'm a licensed psychologist based in Athens, working with adults in English and Greek, both in person and online.

My academic training is in psychology, with studies in Athens and Rotterdam. My clinical experience includes work in community mental health settings in the US, as well as work with immigrants and older adults. I am also a parenting counselor and actively training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), a structured, evidence-based approach developed by Albert Ellis.

My work is warm and practical. Together, we look at what hurts, why it keeps hurting, and what can begin to change.

The invitation

This is a space to pause and begin making sense of what has been feeling heavy, confusing, or difficult to manage.

Many people come to therapy caught in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, or exhaustion. You may feel like your mind is constantly analyzing, correcting, preparing, or searching for what might go wrong.

Therapy offers a quiet, structured hour where we slow things down and understand the beliefs and patterns behind your distress. Together, we work toward more flexible thinking, steadier emotions, and practical change in daily life.

What I offer

Individual Therapy for Adults

Areas of Focus

I provide structured, evidence-based therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and persistent self-criticism.

Anxiety & Worry
When your mind rehearses every worst-case scenario before the day even begins.
Depression & Low Mood
When life looks “fine” from the outside, but inside, you feel low, disconnected, or emotionally drained.
Burnout & Overwhelm
When you have been pushing through for so long that rest feels unfamiliar.
Self-Criticism
When the harshest voice in the room is often your own.
Emotional Regulation
When feelings arrive at full volume, or feel completely out of reach.
Life Transitions
When the next chapter has started, but emotionally, you have not caught up yet.

How it works

  1. A free 15-minute call

We talk briefly about what is going on and what you are looking for. There is no preparation needed and no obligation to continue.

  2. Understanding the pattern

In the first sessions, we map what is actually happening: the situations that trigger distress, the thoughts and beliefs underneath them, and the demands you may be placing on yourself.

  3. Changing the pattern

Step by step, we challenge the beliefs that drive anxiety, self-criticism, and emotional distress, and build more flexible ones that can hold up in real life.

Questions

Common questions.

More practical questions — fees, cancellations, session rhythm — are answered on the services page.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes and cost €50.

Do you offer sessions in English?

Yes. Sessions are available in English or Greek, and you are welcome to use whichever language feels most natural to you.

Should I choose online or in person?

Whichever fits your life best. The structure and length of the sessions are the same. Many clients combine online and in-person sessions, and we can also discuss this during the introductory call.

Do I need to be in a crisis to come to therapy?

No. Therapy is not only for crises. It can also help when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, self-critical, or ready to understand yourself more clearly. If you are in immediate danger, please call 112 or 1018 in Greece.

What happens on the introductory call?

The introductory call lasts 15 minutes and takes place by video. You briefly describe what is going on, I explain how I work, and we decide together whether it makes sense to continue. There is nothing you need to prepare.

Not sure if this is for you?

That's what the intro call is for. Fifteen minutes, free, and no pressure to continue.
