About

Hi, I'm Ioanna.

I'm a licensed psychologist in Athens. I help people make sense of what they're carrying and find a steadier, kinder way to deal with it — in plain conversation, in English or Greek. No jargon, and no pretending you should already have it all figured out.

Why I do this work

I became a psychologist because I have always been interested in how people make sense of what happens to them, and how those meanings shape the way they feel, cope, and relate to themselves.

In therapy, I often remind clients that the goal is not to become someone who never struggles. It is to understand what keeps the struggle going, and to build a steadier, more compassionate way of responding to life.

What matters to me is that therapy feels useful: clear, honest, practical, and connected to the life you actually live outside the session.

Experience

Where I've worked.

My clinical experience has developed across different settings and populations, including community mental health work in the United States, clinical and support work in Greece, and international work with clients in both Greek and English.

I have supported adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, trauma-related difficulties, and self-critical thinking patterns. My work has also included support for immigrant populations, cognitive assessment with older adults, crisis-line work, psychoeducation, seminars, and individual therapy.

These experiences continue to shape the way I work: structured, warm, practical, and attentive to the real-life contexts people bring into therapy.

In the room

How I practice.

Therapy with me is structured, collaborative, and goal-oriented. Together, we look at the beliefs, thinking patterns, and coping behaviors that keep distress going, and we build practical tools for emotional regulation and change.

We also make space for how past experiences may shape your present reactions, relationships, and self-perception. The goal is to reduce distress while building strategies that support your daily life in a lasting way.

Off the clock

Outside the practice.

Outside the practice, I'm usually walking around Athens, reading, learning something new, or planning the next trip. I like simple things that keep me grounded and curious.

Therapy is not about changing who you are. It's about understanding the patterns that shape your experience.
